Amaravati Drinking Water Projects To Be Expedited

VIJAYAWADA: Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) chairperson and managing director D. Lakshmi Parthasarathi directed officials to speed up drinking water projects in the capital region in line with the projected population.
During an inspection of drinking water supply projects, she reviewed the construction of 380 million litres per day (MLD) intake well tanks being built in the Krishna river near Venkata Palem. She sought details from ADC chief engineer T. Moses Kumar on the progress of works, manpower deployed and machinery being used, and reviewed the construction targets.
Lakshmi Parthasarathi, who had inspected the works three months ago, reviewed the progress again and directed officials to accelerate the projects while maintaining quality standards.
She later inspected the Phase-I water treatment plant coming up at Krishnayapalem village to treat water drawn from the intake well before supplying it to residents. The plant has a capacity of 190 MLD. She instructed the chief engineer, superintending engineer, executive engineer, deputy executive engineer, assistant engineer and other officials to personally monitor the project every day.
The ADC is constructing seven water supply centres in the capital. She also inspected the cushion tank being built for the 2,400-kilolitre water distribution plant near the N-4 road. Representatives of the NCC contractor were directed to achieve the project targets by May 2027.
During the visit, she also inspected the LPS Zones 9 and 12 works along the route.
ADC chief engineer Ch. Dhanunjaya, superintending engineers T. Vaikuntha Rao and R. Hanumantha Reddy, and executive engineers M. Sridhar Reddy, N. Sivalinga Rao and Y. Appaji were present.
