VISAKHAPATNAM: Air India Express announced the launch of two new direct flight services from Visakhapatnam Airport. These services will commence on August 1 and will offer daily flights to Mumbai (BOM) and tri-weekly flights to Port Blair.

Flight IX 1027, will depart from Visakhapatnam for Mumbai at 09:40 am and arrive at 12:00 pm. For the return journey, Flight IX 1026, will leave Mumbai at 07:00 am and land in Visakhapatnam at 09:05 am.

The new service to Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, will also start on August 1. This flight will run three times a week, scheduled for Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. Flight IX 1017 will depart from Visakhapatnam to Port Blair at 08:00 am, arriving at 10:00 am. The return flight, IX 1097, will leave Port Blair at 10:30 am and arrive back in Visakhapatnam at 12:25 pm.

K. Vijay Mohan, president of the Tours and Travels Association of Andhra Pradesh, emphasized the growing significance of Visakhapatnam as an aviation hub in the region.

Visakhapatnam Airport is now fully operational 24/7, following the removal of previous restrictions by the Indian Navy after the successful completion of runway resurfacing that began in April 2024.
