Ahobilam PHC Staffer Held In Rs 1 Crore Scam

ANANTAPUR: Ahobilam Primary Health Centre (PHC) senior assistant Imtiyaz Ali Khan has been arrested for allegedly misappropriating over Rs 1 crore of government funds by illegally transferring the money to his own bank account and that of his sister.

Addressing a media conference, Allagadda DSP Pramod said Ali Khan had created fake bills related to the salaries of outsourced medical staff and diverted the funds into his personal accounts. The fraud came to light during an audit conducted by audit officials.

Following a complaint lodged by the district treasury officer, a case was registered and an investigation was launched.

DSP Pramod said a deeper probe was underway to ascertain the full extent of the misappropriation and to determine whether others were involved in the scam.
