Visakhapatnam: The Adivasi Girijana Sangham has urged tribal representatives, youth, and elected leaders to actively participate in World Tribal Day celebrations on August 9 and commit to resolving tribal issues. In Danga Bhadra village, Komarada mandal, Parvathipuram Manyam district, the Sangham invited ministers and MLAs elected with tribal support to hoist flags and pledge solidarity.

Speaking to the media, leader H. Rama Rao demanded urgent government action, including the repeal of anti-tribal laws, implementation of the Forest Rights Act, the grant of 10-acre pattas of cultivable land, and ensuring road and water access in tribal villages. He called for notification of a tribal-special DSC, 100% reservation for tribal teachers, and exemption of agency Gurukulam posts from the mega DSC. The Sangham also urged replacing G.O. No. 3 with a law guaranteeing 100% employment of tribal teachers, to be included in the Ninth Schedule.

Sangham emphasised the strict implementation of the Fifth Schedule and the PESA Act, as well as fair crop prices for tribal farmers. It warned that failure to act would lead to widespread tribal movements. Leaders must pledge to resist corporate encroachment and ensure World Tribal Day becomes a platform for securing tribal rights, not just a symbolic celebration.
