Vijayawada: Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar has asked officials to swiftly deposit the subsidy in the accounts of Deepam-2 scheme beneficiaries.

The minister held a meeting with oil company representatives at the Civil Supply Bhavan here on Thursday. He said, “We are fulfilling the promise to provide three free gas cylinders per year to every woman as part of the Super Six guarantees.”

The oil companies brought to his attention the technical problems that arose in the deposit of the subsidy after the cylinder’s April delivery to the beneficiaries who booked those on March 31.

The minister advised the officials to immediately deposit the subsidy in the accounts of such beneficiaries. He said a campaign should be conducted to create more awareness on the Deepam-2 scheme.

He said so far, 99.22 lakh beneficiaries have used the first free cylinder under the Deepam-2 scheme, for which the government had allocated Rs.2,684 crore.

The beneficiaries should first book the cylinder by paying the full price and the delivery would be done within 24 hours in urban areas and 48 hours in rural areas. After that, the amount paid within 48 hours would be credited back to the beneficiary's bank account.

The minister said they have been given the opportunity to book 3 free cylinders a year, within a period of four months. In case of any problems or information errors, they should call the toll-free number 1967 and complain.

Civil supplies commissioner Saurabh Gaur, MD Manazir Jilani, representatives of IOC, HPC, BPC and officials participated in the meeting.
