8 Hospitals Served Notices Over Biomedical Waste Violations
Officials directed the establishments to segregate biomedical waste at source into yellow.
VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has intensified inspections of private hospitals and clinics to ensure compliance with biomedical waste management norms, serving notices on eight establishments for violations.
Acting on the directions of VMC commissioner H.M. Dhyanachandra and chief medical officer of health Dr Nirmala Glory, sanitary inspector Adinarayana and public health staff inspected hospitals and clinics in Bhavanipuram and Krambe Road areas on Thursday.
Notices were issued to KB Diagnosis Centre, Tulasi Clinic, Sai Nursing Home, Almatty Nursing Home, Bhavani Multispeciality Hospital, RK Diagnostic Centre, Bhayapareddy Clinic and Emreen Hospital under the Biomedical Waste Rules, 1998 and S.O. No. 630(E).COfficials directed the establishments to segregate biomedical waste at source into yellow, red, white and blue categories and hand it over only to an authorised Common Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Facility (CBWTF).
They warned that violations could lead to legal action and said inspections would continue across the city.
