Kurnool: Minister for industries, commerce and food processing T.G. Bharat on Monday said the government is committed to helping poor families realise their dream of owning a house and urged beneficiaries to occupy the allotted Tidco houses without delay.
The minister was speaking after distributing 576 houses to beneficiaries at the Tidco housing colony near Jagannatha Gattu on the outskirts of Kurnool city.
He said home ownership is a lifelong aspiration for poor families and that the coalition government is taking steps to make it a reality.
Bharat said construction activity had gathered pace after the new government assumed office, leading to the completion and distribution of around 2,500 houses so far. Of the 576 houses handed over on Monday, nearly 350 are located in the Kurnool Assembly constituency.
The minister said infrastructure works in the housing colony were nearing completion and directed officials to ensure the early provision of basic amenities. He said an overhead water tank would be established soon and that the district administration would address water supply issues.
District collector Dr A. Siri said that 2,500 houses had already been distributed out of the 10,000 units constructed under the housing programme. She urged beneficiaries to take possession of the allotted houses without delay.
