Anantapur: Five municipal wards would see unanimous elections of Telugu Desam nominees in Tadipatri municipality in Anantapur district as no YSRC candidates filed nominations there before the deadline on Sunday.

As Tadipathri has been experiencing political heat following disputes between former MLA JC Prabhakar Reddy of TD and K Pedda Reddy of YSRC for the past five years, the municipal polls gained significant attention across the state.

The YSRC fielded K Fayaz Bhasha as the municipal chairperson candidate.

No candidate from the YSRC filed nominations for councillor posts in five wards- 32, 33, 11, 14 and 45 in the Tadipatri municipality.

However, the nomination process passed off peacefully in all municipalities.

TD leader G Radhakrishna filed his nomination as Jana Sena candidate in addition to the JS officially announcing its candidate A Sreenivasa Rao at Madakasira municipality.

The TD leadership was seriously mounting pressure on the JS to consider the TD leader who, it said, would join the JS officially, sources said.

MLAs of the concerned municipalities led the nomination process across the Anantapur and Annamayya districts.

YSRC candidates blamed the ruling TD-led alliance for mounting pressure on the police to resist the nomination of candidates for councillors at several places.

A YSRC candidate was seen begging a sub inspector to allow him to file his nomination papers at Gooty municipality.

Anantapur SP Jagadish said tight security was provided at all municipalities including the highly sensitive Tadipathri throughout the nomination process to avoid incidents.
