3 From AP Among Dead in Vietnam Boat Capsize, One Serious
The respective district administrations have contacted the bereaved family members and are extending all the required assistance.
Vijayawada: Three of the total 19 tourists from Andhra Pradesh, who had been on the speed boat that capsized in Vietnam, are among those who drowned in the sea off Hon May Rut Ngoai near An Tholi, Phu Quoc Island. Those dead from AP have been identified as Nallapeta Adiseshaiah Ravi Teja from Satya Sai district, Mudium Sreedhar from Kadapa district and Gelli Jaya Lakshmi from Krishna district. Gelli Kishore, who is serious, is undergoing treatment in a local hospital. The respective district administrations have contacted the bereaved family members and are extending all the required assistance.
Tourist speedboat AG 26751 operated by Ocean Pearl Island Company had been carrying 36 persons, 32 of them tourists from India, three crew members and one attendant. The boat had been returning to An Thoi Port when it capsized off Hon May Rut Ngoai. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed profound grief over the Vietnam mishap. He termed the incident deeply distressing. The CM held a meeting with senior officials and sought details of relief measures being extended to the victims. He directed the officials to take immediate steps to facilitate the safe return of those who have survived the accident. He said the mortal remains of the deceased must be brought back to AP without any delay. Naidu directed AP Bhavan in New Delhi to maintain round-the-clock coordination with the Embassy of India in Hanoi and the Consulate General of India at Ho Chi Minh City to facilitate consular assistance, documentation, transportation and all other necessary support. A dedicated team of officials from AP Bhavan led by resident commissioner Pravin Kumar is extending every possible assistance to ensure that all affected tourists are safely reunited with their families, and mortal remains of the deceased are repatriated.
Education minister N. Lokesh is coordinating with the officials to ensure timely assistance to the affected tourists in Vietnam and their families in AP.
Former chief minister and YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed profound grief over the tragic boat accident. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
