Visakhapatnam: Three people including a nine-year-old-boy were killed and ten others sustained severe injuries as a speeding lorry rammed into their stationary van near Chelluru in Vizianagaram district on Monday midnight.
The deceased persons have been identified as Majji Narayana Rao (45), Rambabu (50) and Chinari Mohan Naidu (9), all natives of Botsapeta in Denkada mandal in Vizianagaram district.
The police said a group of persons from Botsapeta village of Denkada mandal hired a van and had gone to Rayagada of Odisha and visited a temple on Monday.
When they were returning to their village, the vehicle halted at Chelluru as people wanted to buy water bottles, a speeding lorry travelling from Visakhapatnam hit the van at high speed from behind, resulting in death of three people and injuries to 10 others.
