3-day Saluru Syamalamba Festival From Today

Visakhapatnam: The long-awaited Saluru Shyamalamba festival is set to commence on Sunday at Saluru village in Parvathipuram district, marking its return after 15 years of hiatus. The three-day celebration features Uyyala Kambala Utsavam on May 18, Tholellu on May 19 and Siri Manu Utsav on May 20. Authorities are expecting nearly 10 lakh pilgrims to the event.
Gummidi Sandhya Rani, the minister of women and child welfare and tribal welfare, oversees the preparations to ensure a grand and successful event. In several meetings, the ministers directed the district administration officials to pay special focus on crucial aspects such as water supply, electricity and sanitation for the event. Police have set up a control room and ramped up bandobast measures, while designated routes and five parking zones have been arranged for smooth access to the town.

The endowments department has introduced a three darshan systems: free, special ticket of `20, and Visista ticket of `50, while tonsuring ritual services for `40. Apart from from ensuring security with installation of 15 CCTV cameras, the municipality has set up 50 temporary toilets by deploying 200 sanitary workers. Additionally, EPDCL installed new transformers and poles to secure an uninterrupted power supply.
Minister Sandhyarani emphasised that traffic management, primarily on the festival concluding day, would be critical and urged officials to remain prepared for any contingencies during the celebrations.
