ANANTAPUR: A 150-foot Ardhanareeswara statue would be set up at Nakshatra Vanam in Srisailam. It would be designed as per the advice of experts in Vedic and sculptural fields, and erected using cement.

A meeting of the board of trustees of Srisaila Devasthanam was held in Srisailam on Friday under the chairmanship of Pothugunta Ramesh Naidu. Executive officer Srinivasa Rao, members of the board, ex-officio members including the chief Archaka of Srivaru and special invitees were present.

Some 55 agenda items were discussed. Of these, 47 items were approved, two were deferred, one was rejected and 5 items would be taken up for detailed discussion, the chairman stated after the meeting.

Ramesh Naidu said, “It has been resolved to conduct extensive Dharma Prachara (religious outreach) programs in Chenchu habitations. Clothes (sarees and dhotis) received through hundi offerings would be distributed to members of the Chenchu tribal communities.”

In view of a steady increase in the number of devotees, the meeting decided to construct a new queue complex. Plans and cost estimates would be prepared and action taken accordingly, he said.

It has also been decided to arrange a spacious parking facility on the Devasthanam land near Hatakeshwaram, alongside providing basic amenities such as toilets within the parking area.

The chairman said, “A pillar in the mandapam at the entrance of Sri Bhramaramba Devi temple is seen to be inclined inward. Keeping devotees’ safety in mind to prevent any incidents, we would undertake reconstruction of the Ammavari Rajagopuram based on expert recommendations.”

Another decision was to appoint a DSP-level officer to supervise the SPF personnel working at the Devasthanam and oversee the overall security arrangements of the temple area. “As part of enhanced security steps, it has been decided to deploy a bomb squad in the temple premises for thorough inspections.”

Ramesh Naidu said special priority would be given to ensure safety and convenience of ordinary devotees visiting the temple.
