13,000 Artistes Set Guinness Record With Dhimsa Dance

 VISAKHAPATNAM: More than 13,000 tribal students and women created a Guinness World Records entry on Saturday by performing the traditional Dhimsa dance to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram.

Prime Minister Modi praised the performance in a social media post, describing it as a remarkable display of India's rich cultural heritage.

The record-breaking Dhimsa performance was organised under the leadership of the ITDA, Paderu, and brought national and international recognition to the tribal communities of Alluri Sitarama Raju district.

Minister for tribal welfare and district in-charge minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani and Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) chairman K. Sravan Kumar congratulated the ITDA Project Officer, district administration, organisers, artistes and participants for the achievement.

District collector T. Nishanthi described the Guinness recognition as a proud moment for the district and appreciated the efforts of officials, volunteers and performers.

ITDA project officer Aditya Varma and joint collector Tirumani Sripooja said the achievement would help showcase the district's tribal culture, traditions and artistic heritage on the global stage.

Sandhya Rani said the historic performance had brought international recognition to Andhra Pradesh's tribal communities while highlighting their rich cultural legacy alongside the state's latest infrastructure milestone.
