Rain Drench Hyderabad, More Forecast Today
City sees light to moderate rains across several localities; IMD warns of intense spells with gusty winds on Monday.
Hyderabad: Hyderabad experienced spells of rain through Sunday, with showers reported across several parts of the city by night. What began as passing drizzles in the afternoon gradually intensified and spread across northern, central and eastern localities.
Gachibowli and surrounding areas saw steady drizzle in the afternoon, while brief spells were reported in other pockets. By evening, the rainfall picked up, with Quthbullapur, Alwal, Secunderabad Cantonment, Kapra, Malkajgiri, Abids, Serilingampally, Khairatabad and Kukatpally receiving light to moderate showers.
Later in the night, moderate spells were recorded in Patancheruvu, Miyapur, BHEL, Pragathi Nagar, Kukatpally, Gajularamaram, Kompally, Alwal, Sainikpuri, Kapra, Secunderabad, Malkajgiri and Cherlapally. Weather officials said the intensity of rainfall was expected to increase across the city during the night.
The showers also contributed to steady inflows into the twin reservoirs. As of 8 pm, Osmansagar stood at 1787 ft (3.22 TMC) against its full tank level of 1790 ft, receiving 400 cusecs of inflows. Himayatsagar recorded 1762 ft (2.60 TMC) against the FTL of 1763.5 ft, with inflows of 500 cusecs. One gate of Himayatsagar was lifted to release 339 cusecs of water.
The IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky for Monday, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Intense spells, accompanied by gusty winds of 30–40 kmph, are also likely in parts of the city.
