Police deny permission to KTR’s Rythu Maha Dharna in Nalgonda
Hyderabad: The Nalgonda police on Monday denied permission for “Rythu Maha Dharna” to be organized by BRS at Clock Tower Centre in Nalgonda district on Tuesday from 10 am to 4 pm.
BRS Nalgonda Town president B Devender submitted an application to the police on January 17 requesting to give permission for holding “Rythu Maha Dharna” at Clock Tower Centre on Tuesday in protest against the Telangana government’s failure to fulfill promises given to farmers during the Assembly elections held in November 2024.
In the application, Devender said that BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) would take part in the dharna. However, the police denied permission for dharna stating they got clear inputs that a large number of BRS cadres from erstwhile district are likely to attend and the Clock Tower centre would be blocked from all corners. As a result, the public will suffer due to traffic chaos.
The police further explained that Clock Tower centre was a busy junction with narrow roads surrounded with commercial complexes and there would be more traffic floating the entire day at the junction. Moreover, there is no alternative route to divert traffic from the junction.
At the same time, there is no sufficient parking place at the Clock Tower centre. At present, there is heavy rush of vehicles on the NH-65 (Hyderabad-Vijayawada) and Narketpally-Adanki State highway with commuters returning to their native places after Sankranti. The same situation would continue for the next three days.
The NH-565 from Nakrekal to Yerpedu in Andhra Pradesh is passing through the Clock Tower centre. Any large gathering at this area would lead to traffic gridlocks. Under these circumstances, the police denied permission for dharna.
