PM Modi To Attend Mega Women’s Meet Honouring Ahilya Bai In Bhopal

Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to take part in the women empowerment mega conference here on Saturday, marking the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilya Bai Holkar, the 18th century ruler of the erstwhile princely state of Malwa in Madhya Pradesh.
The event is a culmination of a nine-month-long campaign launched by the state BJP government to showcase the governance skills as well as the works of the legendary queen of the Holkar dynasty.
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav while flagging off a women’s bike rally here on Friday as build up to Saturday’s event.
The mega conference, which is expected to be attended by around two lakh women, will be held in the sprawling Jamoori Ground here on Saturday.
Mr. Modi is scheduled to inaugurate and lay foundation of many important projects, transfer the first instalment of 1,271 new Atal Gram Seva Sadan (Panchayat Bhawan), built at a cost of Rs 483 crore, and virtually inaugurate the Super Priority Corridor of Indore Metro on the occasion, an official spokesman here said.
This six-km long corridor is part of the Metro Yellow Line, which includes five stations. It will give Indore, the cleanest city in India, a modern, pollution-free and fast transport facility, a first in Madhya Pradesh, he said.
The PM will release a postage stamp and commemorative coin dedicated to Ahilya Bai.
Along with this, the artist who has made a significant contribution to tribal, folk and traditional arts will be honoured with the National Devi Ahilya Bai Award, he added.
Besides, the PM will virtually inaugurate the newly developed airports in Satna and Datia in the state on the occasion.
