All scriptures have told us that we must live ethical lives; an ethical life is the key to spirituality. An ethical life means that we leave vices and practice virtues. In order to see light of God we must have love for all and develop humility, honesty and compassion: we must speak with a sweet tongue at all times, under all circumstances. All these virtues should find a natural expression in our daily lives. We have to rise above selfishness and ego.

Ethical living is based on the simple principal of love. Love has the greatest transformative power. It has been expressed through ages as the golden rule to treat others the way we want to be treated. If we want others to treat us with kindness, compassion and care, then it means others want the same in return. Just as we want others to be non-violent to us, others want us to act in return. Just as we want others to share with us, similarly others do not want us to be greedy but to share with them.

When we need help, we want others to help us selflessly. Similarly, when others need help they want us to be selfless. No matter where we live, whether a small village or a big city, we can practice ethical virtues to treat others in the same way we want to be treated. Our socio-economic circumstances are not related to how we behave.

In fact, no matter what living or work situation we are in, when others see we act with kindness, respect and selflessly, we leave a positive impression. We will see that our relationship will improve, people will have respect for us and we will have a much easier time at home, workplace, community, etc. So let us all work towards a state in which we are kind and loving. Let us make sure our words are sweet, we are tender and compassionate to others and let us soothe broken hearts with love, affection and sweet words.
