Pawar Backs Congress Demand For Special Parliament Session
The corporation has been set up for the economic development of the Brahmin community
Mumbai: Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar is known as an early riser.
His day typically starts at 5am. This habit has earned him many praises, but not on Thursday. BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Medha Kulkarni openly expressed her displeasure over Mr. Pawar inaugurating a government building in Pune “before scheduled time”. Ms. Kulkarni stated that she reached the even as per the scheduled time of 6.30 am, but Mr. Pawar had already inaugurated the building of the Parshuram Arthik Vikas Mahamandal (Corporation).
The corporation has been set up for the economic development of the Brahmin community. The Rajya Sabha member, who is also a Brahmin, said that she missed the event even though she reached there before the scheduled time. After reaching the venue, she showed the time on her mobile phone to Mr. Pawar and said, “Dada, it’s only 6:24 PM.” However, Mr. Pawar said he was not aware that she was also coming for the event.
“I was a little upset as the inauguration took place well before 6.30 am. As per protocol, those who have been invited to the event will definitely attend. It feels disappointing. I was there 10 minutes early, yet Dada (Mr. Pawar) had already done the inauguration 20 minutes before the scheduled time,” Ms Kulkarni said.
Later, Mr. Pawar posed for a photo with Ms Kulkarni in front of the inauguration plaque. The BJP leader said, “Since I could not take part in the main function today, we stood in a corner and clicked pictures. I request Ajit Dada to please stick with the time scheduled for such events, whether it is day or night.”
The decision to set up the corporation was taken by the Maharashtra government led by Eknath Shinde in September 2024. There are more than 100 such entities set up in Maharashtra to cater to a particular community.
