NEW DELHI: A team of Election Commission (EC) officials, led by a senior deputy election commissioner, will visit poll-bound Uttar Pradesh next week to review preparations for the Assembly elections. The visit will be followed by a tour of the state by the election commissioners.
The EC team will begin its visit from Meerut on November 2 and hold meetings with police and administrative officials to assess election preparedness.
EC officials have already conducted similar review visits to Uttarakhand, Manipur and Punjab, which are also scheduled to go to the polls next year.
The Election Commission had on Thursday extended the deadlines for completing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in these states.
