Trinamul Congress Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien was questioned by the cops at Shakespeare Sarani police station in the city for nearly five hours on Wednesday.

He appeared there at around 10 am, responding to summons in the case of a scuffle with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation officials and cops during the removal of an unauthorised billboard at TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee's office on Camac Street last week.

Mr O'Brien came out at around 2.45 pm after recording his statement before the police. He however did not speak to the media. Meanwhile, the cops quizzed another accused in the same case.

He is Mr Banerjee's personal assistant Sumit Roy who recently also came under scanner of the criminal investigation department of the state police for his alleged role in a case of land fraud.

He appeared at around 12 pm after getting summons. Sumit was later allowed to go after his questioning. On Thursday, TMC leader Baishwanor Chatterjee has been summoned by the police to appear for grilling in the case.
