Pejawar Seer Launches Prayer Drive Against Cow Cruelty
Pejawar Swamiji begins statewide prayer campaign to end cattle cruelty in Karnataka; urges unity and divine intervention
Udupi: Sri Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Adhokshaja Math, who also serves as a trustee of the Sri Rama Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, has voiced his deep concern over the increasing instances of cruelty and violence against cattle in Karnataka.
Condemning these attacks, the seer announced a week-long statewide prayer campaign from January 23 to 29, urging devotees to unite in seeking divine intervention for the protection of cattle.
“Cattle provide us with food and clothing throughout our lives, yet they have been subjected to repeated acts of cruelty in recent days. We have brought this to the notice of the government. But as attacks continue on cattle, we must turn to God and pray for good thoughts for all,” Swamiji said.
The campaign will involve the chanting of "Vishnu Sahasranama" or "Shiva Panchakshara" in homes, temples, and mutts, with the aim of ending violence against cows and fostering peace and prosperity in the state. Swamiji expressed his distress over the acts of cow slaughter and cruelty, which he said have deeply hurt Hindus.
The seer has called on people from all communities to dedicate time each day to prayer and chanting, asking for wisdom in society and a safe, peaceful life for cows.
The campaign will conclude on January 29 with special ceremonies, such as Vishnu Sahasranama Yajnas or Panchakshara Yajnas, at temples and Maths across the state.
The initiative has garnered widespread support from spiritual leaders, including heads of mutts and religious organizations.
Swamiji urged these leaders to mobilize their devotees and followers to actively participate. Additionally, he called for a day-long fast on January 25 as part of the prayer campaign.
Swamiji warned that if these attacks persist, seers across Karnataka would come together for a collective fast to draw attention to the issue. He also appealed to the government to take serious measures to prevent further atrocities against cattle and ensure their safety.
