New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday said it has arrested a Faridabad resident, Soyab, for allegedly harbouring terrorist Umar-un-Nabi immediately before the November 10 Delhi terror car blast that killed 15 people.
This is the seventh arrest made by the Central anti-terror agency in connection with the “white-collar” terror module busted earlier by the Jammu & Kashmir Police.
According to the NIA, Soyab, a resident of Dhauj village in Faridabad, was taken into custody for providing shelter and logistical support to Umar-un-Nabi, who drove the explosive-laden car that detonated outside the Red Fort on November 10.
The investigation revealed that Soyab worked as a ward boy at Al-Falah University and was in regular contact with Umar and Muzammil. He allegedly arranged accommodation for Umar at his sister-in-law’s house in Nuh and later at other locations as well. He had been under questioning by the NIA and other agencies for several days before his formal arrest.
Earlier, the NIA had arrested six other key aides of Umar in the case, including Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganai of Pulwama, Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather of Anantnag, Dr Shaheen Saeed of Lucknow, and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay of Shopian.
“The agency continues to pursue multiple leads related to the suicide bombing and has been conducting searches across states, in coordination with local police, to identify and trace others involved in the attack,” the spokesperson said.
