SRINAGAR: In a significant development in the investigation into the deadly bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested another key accused, bringing the total number of arrests in the high-profile terror case to eight.

The arrested individual has been identified as Dr Bilal Naseer Malla, a resident of Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir. He was apprehended by an NIA team from the national capital and formally arrested in connection with case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.

According to an official statement issued by the NIA, Dr Malla played a direct role in the broader conspiracy behind the terrorist attack that claimed 15 lives and left several others injured last month.

Investigations have revealed that Malla knowingly harboured one of the deceased prime accused, Dr. Umar Nabi, and provided him crucial logistical support in the run-up to the blast. Furthermore, he is accused of destroying vital evidence linked to the terror strike in an attempt to obstruct the probe and shield other conspirators.

The NIA emphasised that the arrest marks a major breakthrough as it exposes yet another layer of the support network that facilitated the November 10 blast. The agency is continuing its intensive investigation into the full extent of the conspiracy and remains in close coordination with central and state law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend all individuals involved, directly or indirectly, in the deadly incident. Further updates are expected as the probe progresses.
