Naidu Recalls Student Days, Political Journey at NTR Institutions Event
Naidu also recalled his association with Gandipeta, where the Telugu Desam Party headquarters once functioned as a training centre for political leaders.
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday reminisced about his student life and early political journey, recalling that despite being advised by several well-wishers to pursue the civil services, he chose politics and went on to become an MLA while still at university.
Speaking at the annual day celebrations of NTR Educational Institutions in Hyderabad, which he attended along with his wife Nara Bhuvaneswari, Naidu said he became a minister within two years of entering politics and is now serving as Chief Minister for the fourth time.
Reflecting on his personal life, Naidu said that as he became increasingly occupied with politics, he requested Bhuvaneswari to take charge of Heritage. Though initially reluctant, she developed the organisation with dedication and commitment, he said.
“I still write my speeches on paper, while Bhuvaneswari delivers hers using a tablet. While I speak about technology, she practises it,” Naidu remarked, drawing applause. He said she inherited the perseverance and determination of the late Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao, adding that she efficiently balances multiple roles as a wife, mother, homemaker, trustee and managing director of Heritage. He noted that she was honoured with the Golden Peacock Award for her leadership at Heritage.
Naidu also recalled his association with Gandipeta, where the Telugu Desam Party headquarters once functioned as a training centre for political leaders. He said the same spirit of grooming future leaders continues through educational institutions run by the NTR Trust.
Highlighting achievements of students from NTR institutions, he said four students had cleared Group-I examinations, three were selected as junior civil judges, and 29 secured admissions in premier institutions across the country for higher studies.
NTR Trust managing trustee Nara Bhuvaneswari outlined the trust’s initiatives, including healthcare services, free education, coaching for civil services, skill development programmes, drinking water supply and support during natural calamities.
Earlier, Naidu and Bhuvaneswari were accorded a warm welcome by students, who presented a guard of honour. The couple watched cultural programmes organised on the occasion.
An audio-visual presentation showcased the establishment of the NTR Trust, its services, and awards received by Bhuvaneswari. It also highlighted support extended by minister N. Lokesh and his wife Brahmani. Several alumni, including Harikrishna and Uma Sri, shared their success stories and expressed gratitude to their alma mater.
