Bhubaneswar: The Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, Odisha, has for the first time in recent years introduced a mandatory uniform dress code for all first-year undergraduate students, effective from the 2025–26 academic session.

The directive, issued under the instructions of the Vice-Chancellor and signed by the Registrar, applies exclusively to fresh undergraduate batches, with postgraduate and doctoral students exempted.

As per the official notification, male students must wear formal pants and a shirt, while female students can opt for either formal pants and a shirt or a shalwar-kameez paired with a waistcoat. Dupattas have been banned, citing security concerns.

Uniform specifications include navy blue pants, salwar, and waistcoat, paired with a sky-blue shirt. The fabric for the pants and waistcoat must be of the same material to ensure a consistent appearance. Students have been instructed to match their attire exactly—or as closely as possible—to sample swatches displayed on the university office notice board.

Freshers have until the end of August 2025 to procure the prescribed uniforms. The administration has cautioned that adherence will be strictly monitored, and non-compliance could invite disciplinary action.
