Bhubaneswar: Farmers in Odisha can now register themselves with a self-declaration form to sell their paddy to the government during the upcoming Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2025–26, food supplies and consumer welfare minister Krushna Chandra Patra announced on Sunday.

Briefing reporters in Bhubaneswar, Patra said the state government had further simplified the process to ease farmer participation in the paddy procurement drive. “Farmers no longer need to struggle with cumbersome paperwork. They can simply register through a self-declaration form, which has already been distributed across all districts,” he said.

In a relief to farmers, the government has also extended the registration deadline from August 20 to August 25, with the entire process expected to be completed by August 30, the minister informed.

According to officials, the decision was taken after many farmers reported difficulties in obtaining mandatory documents such as consent letters from legal heirs or co-sharers and genealogy reports from revenue inspectors—requirements that often delayed or prevented registration.

To streamline the exercise, the food supplies and consumer welfare department has dispatched the self-declaration forms to district collectors, ensuring that no eligible farmer is denied the benefit of Minimum Support Price (MSP) procurement.

The paddy procurement for the Kharif season is scheduled to begin in the first week of November.
