Assam CM Announces Monthly Cash Incentives Of Rs 300 For Students Preparing For HSLC 2026

Guwahati: In its continued initiatives of extending cash incentives to the students, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that his government has envisaged a new financial assistance program to support students preparing for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations scheduled for 2026.
The chief minister made this announcement in his routine interactive Video posts on social media where in he said that eligible students will receive a monthly stipend of ₹300 for six months. The assistance aims to help cover tuition fees and enhance nutritional support.
Informing that the funds will be directly transferred to students’ bank accounts, the chief minister said that initiative is part of the government’s campaign titled “Your Preparation, Our Support” to help ease the financial burden on families and enable students to focus better on their studies.
“The government of Assam is committed to stand by our students as they prepare for the HSLC exams — a major stepping stone. To give them an extra push in their preparation, we will give them ₹300/month for 6 months so that they can take up tuition or improve their diet before the exams,” the chief minister said.
Earlier Assam chief minister has introduced----‘Nijut Moina’ a scheme to extend financial incentives to girls students.
While rolling out a scheme to curb child marriage, Mr Sarma announced that monthly stipends will be provided to all girl students from Class 11 to post-graduation.
The scheme, Nijut Moina, which will cover around 10 lakh beneficiaries, has been approved by the cabinet and a budget of Rs 1,500 crore has been earmarked for it.
“The scheme aims to delay girls’ marriage and make them financially independent,” Sarma said, adding that the scheme will increase the gross enrollment ratio of girls substantially.
