A case has been filed against spiritual orator Aniruddhacharya as a video clip from an event where he made some degrading statements about women went viral and created widespread outrage on social media. The clip, which created a buzz on social media several months ago, depicted him making objectionable statements about women who are 25 years old. They were proclaimed to have been involved with multiple relationships.

Nevertheless, soon after the outrage, Aniruddhacharya issued an apology saying that he had been misunderstood. According to him, he had meant both sexes and had not meant to devalue women. The apology made no difference to either the outrage among common people or the lawsuit that followed.

Agra district president of the All India Hindu Mahasabha, Meera Rathore, moved a case against the guru at the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court in Mathura, as no action followed her police complaint. The court has consequently ordered proceedings and a case has been entered against the guru for making indecent and defamatory statements.

The issue will be brought before court on January 1, 2026, thus initiating a legal process that will attract national and international focus. The issue continues to raise debate on how influential personalities should be made responsible for statements that disrupt harmony and women’s esteem.
