2,500 Diyas Light Up Modi’s Birthday Tribute In Odisha’s Puri
Two students of the Sudarsan Sand Art Institute, Monalisa Maharana and Sonali Aluk, also conveyed their birthday greetings to the Prime Minister through a sand animation
Bhubaneswar: Internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik marked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday on Thursday with a 25-foot-long sand installation featuring 2,500 diyas at Puri Beach.
The artwork depicts Mr Modi against a Tricolour backdrop and carries the message “Aashirwad Ka Diya”, along with birthday greetings. Created with coloured sand, the installation drew the attention of visitors at the beach.
“A total of 2,500 diyas have been used in the artwork. He has been serving the country continuously all these years. This sand art is a tribute to him. I wish that Lord Jagannath continues to shower His blessings upon him,” Mr Pattnaik said.

The BJP has launched a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17 to mark Mr Modi’s birthday, with service and public outreach programmes planned across the country.
A special bike yatra from Varanasi, Mr Modi’s parliamentary constituency, to Vadnagar in Gujarat, is among the programmes planned. Around 500 ‘Seva Yatris’ are expected to participate.
In Odisha, the BJP Yuva Morcha organised a mega blood donation camp at the Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and state BJP president Manmohan Samal attended the programme.
Mr Majhi extended birthday greetings to the Prime Minister and said the state was observing the occasion through service-oriented programmes. He also prayed to Lord Jagannath for Mr Modi’s long and healthy life.
Kendrapara MP and BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda also conveyed his greetings to Mr Modi on social media, recalling his public life and commitment to the country.
