Infant’s father Pedapati Satish suspected foul play and lodged a complaint with Pithapuram police.
Pithapuram circle inspector G. Srinivas, who led a team that investigated the case, told media that Satish of Narasingapuram village and Sailaja of Pithapuram belonged to two different castes. They married a few years ago against the will of both of their families. But Satish did not take his wife Sailaja to his parents’ house.
Five months back, Sailaja gave birth to a baby girl. Neither parents of Satish nor his relatives came to visit Sailaja and see the infant. Around the time, Sailaja started feeling that her husband is not taking proper care of her after she gave birth to the baby girl.
Meanwhile, Sailaja’s mother Annavaram wanted her daughter to marry her nephew. She convinced her daughter to kill the baby, so that Sailaja could marry her nephew.
Pithapuram police have registered a case.
