Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh police on Sunday made a major breakthrough in the August 11 Jabalpur bank heist case by arresting four people including the alleged mastermind in the robbery.
Eyewitness accounts and footage CCTVs have established that five miscreants had carried out the robbery in the ESAF Finance Bank branch in Khitol, nearly 50 km from district headquarters of Jabalpur, on August 11, the spokesman of the Jabalpur district police said.
Evidence gathered by the police established that the miscreants had taken a house on rent in Indrana village, close to Khitola, where they had plotted the robbery, he added. According to him, 14.875 kg of gold and Rs 5.08 lakh in cash were looted from the bank.
“Four people were arrested in connection with the robbery while another was absconding. A cash of Rs 1,83,000, a country-made gun, two motorcycles and four cell phones were seized from the arrested people”, the spokesman said.
The four arrested miscreants were Rahees Singh Lodhi, the alleged mastermind in the robbery, Sonu Burman, Hemraj and Vikas Chakravarti.
Five police teams have been constituted to arrest the remaining fifth accused in the crime, he added.
