Police in Maharashtra's Latur arrested two absconding accused from Hyderabad in connection with the murder of a teacher here last month, taking the total count of arrests in the case to nine.

Following their arrest on Friday, Azhar Mohammad and Gajendra Sarwade, a local court remanded them in police custody till May 13, police sub-inspector Ajay Patil said.

Hyd Couple Killed, 5 Hurt In Road Mishap

Jalna: A couple from Hyderabad died and five persons, including three children, were injured when their car collided with a truck on the Solapur-Dhule highway in Jalna district of Maharashtra. The victims were travelling to Shirdi when the accident occurred around 11.30 pm on Sunday in Ambad tehsil. The deceased duo was identified as G. Ram, 42, and his wife G. Madhuri, 39. Police rushed to the hospital the injured persons identified as Shrivani, 41, Anusha, 17, Meghna, 12, Rushikesh, 7, and Nagesh Rao, 45.

3 held with 106 kg marijuana in Uppal

Hyderabad: Excise cops on Monday raided a warehouse in Mallapur, Uppal, arrested three peddlers and a supplier, and seized 106 kilogram of marijuana worth `53 lakh. The raids were carried out by the excise district task force (DTF), Syed Yasin Qureshi, Rangareddy deputy commissioner said. He identified the accused as Rambabu of Odisha, Vivek Reddy and C. Madhu Kiran.

310 lost, stolen mobiles recovered

Hyderabad: Cyberabad cops over the past month recovered 310 stolen and lost mobile phones worth `95 lakh using the CEIR portal, which they handed over to the owners on Monday. Cyberabad (crimes) DCP L.C. Naik said this was the seventh phase of mobile phone recovery. Among those whose phones were recovered were a delivery executive who had lost his phone two months ago and another city resident who lost her phone six months ago.

Chennai student raped in Nizampet flat

Hyderabad:Police arrested one Ajay and his friend Hari who allegedly raped his girlfriend in Bachupally. The arrests were based on a complaint from the victim who hailed from Chennai. Police sent her for a medical examination and recorded her statement in front of a magistrate. The victim has since returned to Chennai.

According to Bachupally police Ajay, 23, is a BTech student in Chennai. He persuaded the victim to do their mandatory internship in Hyderabad. The duo reached the city on May 4. Ajay and Hari set her up an hostel. Ajay invited the victim to a party at Haris’s house.

The incident took at Hari’s residence in Pragatinagar. The victim was made to consume alcohol and fell unconscious upon which the duo raped her. Hearing the victim’s cries while trying to resist, the neighbours called the police.

Medchal DCP N. Koti Reddy confirmed to Deccan Chronicle that the two accused were arrested by 1 am and were sent to judicial remand. “We have collected the details and recorded the statement of the victim to avoid her having to receive constant communications from the police or having to travel to the city,” an official said.
