Gold Chain Snatched from Housewife
The accused picked up only the gold Pusthela and fled, leaving the rope behind.
Hyderabad:An unidentified man snatched a gold chain from a 38‑year‑old housewife in Kummari Basti under RGIA police station limits in Shamshabad on Friday night. The victim, P. Jayamma, was sweeping the driveway outside her house when the assailant approached from the street and snatched a four‑tola gold Pusthela from her neck. In the process, the rope of the chain snapped. The accused picked up only the gold Pusthela and fled, leaving the rope behind.
Jayamma, with the help of her family members, lodged a complaint with the police. Officers visited the scene and launched a search to trace the accused. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
Funerals held for 2 women killed in California crash
Hyderabad:The funerals of Mahbubabad natives Pullakhandam Meghana Rani and Kadiyala Bhavana Chowdary, who died in a car accident in California on December 29, were held in their hometowns on Saturday.
Their mortal remains arrived at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in the early hours of the day and were later taken to Mulkanoor and Garla in Mahbubabad district. Family members performed the final rites, with hundreds of villagers joining the funeral proceedings.
Bhavana and Meghana, along with two others, were on an excursion in California when their car overturned near Death Valley on SR‑190 and Saline Valley Road. The Inyo County Sheriff’s office said both succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

Cyberabad cops arrest 5 in fake job racket
Hyderabad:Cyberabad cybercrime police on Saturday arrested five persons for allegedly cheating several youth by promising jobs in reputed multinational companies.
Police said only one victim has so far come forward, reporting a loss of ₹3.2 lakh. The accused were identified as Uppala Venkata Sai Ram, Jalli Karthik, Vinukonda Srikanth, Gurindapalli Priyanka, and H.A. Ramesh. All were residing in different parts of Hyderabad and originally hail from Andhra Pradesh or Karnataka.
According to police, the complaint was lodged by a 32‑year‑old job seeker from Hyderabad, who said he was contacted on WhatsApp by a woman posing as a job consultant. She allegedly promised him a position in an MNC and made him transfer ₹3.20 lakh through UPI. The complainant was issued a fake offer letter in the name of Genpact Enquero and shown a false office address. After joining, he was neither paid salary nor refunded, and was later issued a termination letter before being blocked.
Investigators said the accused posed as HR executives, created fake email IDs and domains resembling genuine companies, conducted fake interviews and training sessions, and routed victims’ money through multiple mule accounts. Police suspect hundreds of victims may have been cheated in a similar manner.
Several mobile phones, laptops, forged documents, rubber stamps of fake companies, cheque books and fake ID cards were seized. The arrests were made using technical analysis, including mobile location tracking and call detail records. The accused were produced before a court.
A case was registered under Sections 318(4), 319(2), 316(2), 338, 336(3) read with 340(2) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Section 66‑D of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Further investigation is underway.
