5 Held For Attacking Driver
Driver attacked for objecting smoking, 5 held
Hyderabad:Miyapur police on Thursday arrested five men from Rajasthan for allegedly assaulting a bus driver near Madinaguda following an altercation over smoking inside the vehicle.
According to Miyapur detective inspector Ramesh Naidu, the accused were part of a group travelling from Kacheguda to Jaipur. On July 12, they boarded the bus and began smoking. The driver, Appu Ram, objected, saying it endangered passengers and could lead to a fire.
The argument escalated, and a group intercepted the bus near Madinaguda and allegedly attacked the driver. Appu Ram was taken to a hospital and is currently in stable condition. Police said more suspects are absconding.
The arrested men were identified as Dharma Ram, Mahipal, Narayan Ram, Vikas Vishnoi and Kailash. CCTV footage is being analysed to trace the other accused. A personal rivalry angle is also under investigation, said Naidu. The five accused were remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
Worker dies falling from 24th floor
Hyderabad:A 22-year-old tower boom operator died after falling from the 24th floor of an under-construction building belonging to Honer Homes in Kukatpally on Thursday evening. The deceased, Yuvraj Singh from Madhya Pradesh, had migrated to the city and had been working at the site for five months, according to investigating officer Girish Kumar.
He reportedly slipped while collecting a load on the 24th floor and fell onto the 19th floor, suffering severe head injuries and dying on the spot. The incident occurred around 7 pm and was discovered by workers on the 19th floor, who called for medical help. He was declared dead upon examination.
His cousin, Divakar Goswami, alleged that Yuvraj had not been provided proper safety gear. “He had no shoes, no gloves — only a helmet,” he said. Another cousin, Dharmendra Patel, added, “We are not being told anything. Workers said he went to switch off the machine, but we don’t know what exactly happened. We just lost our brother.”
The body was sent to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination. Kukatpally police registered a case against Honer Homes management under Section 106(1) of the BNS (causing death by negligence). Investigation is ongoing.
