Hyderabad:Dundigal police registered a case against five persons for allegedly attempting to break into a house and assaulting a security guard in the early hours of Friday. According to Dundigal ASI Swamy Das, the accused have been identified as Bhuvaneshwar and four others. The victim, Dilip Singh, works as a security guard in the area.
The incident occurred at 5.17 am when the five accused, reportedly in an inebriated state, attempted to trespass into a property and rammed into a parked car, triggering an alarm.
When Dilip tried to stop them, they allegedly assaulted him. Locals who gathered at the scene called the police and recorded videos of the incident. The accused fled before the police arrived. Dilip’s family later lodged a complaint. Dilip was admitted to a private hospital and is in a stable condition.
Cyber police act on ‘plastic rice’ video
Hyderabad:The Hyderabad cybercrime police filed a case against an X user for circulating a misleading video that alleged that the government was distributing plastic rice through ration shops in place of fine rice. The complaint was filed by TPCC social media state secretary Kailash Sajjan.
According to the complaint, this video is aimed to mislead the common public and to spread fear among the public and defame the government. He said he saw the video in a post from an account named @Sarmadevi28, where a person was seen placing government-distributed rice on a knife over a flame suggesting the rice was synthetic.
Software engineer dies due to electrocution in Shamshabad
Hyderabad:A 26-year-old software engineer was electrocuted near Pedda Shapurnagar in Shamshabad on Wednesday. Shamshabad inspector K. Narender Reddy identified the victim as Chetan Reddy, a native of Andhra Pradesh and a resident of Ibrahimpatnam.
Reddy had married Bindu, 26, six months ago. The incident occurred while the couple was returning from a college in Moinabad, where Bindu had written a law examination.
On their way back, Chetan spotted mangoes inside a compound. Stopping by the wayside, he plucked some fruits. While leaving, by jumping over the compound wall, he accidentally stepped on a transformer, police said.
In an attempt to regain his balance, he grabbed a live wire above him and was electrocuted. Bindu, who was waiting on the road, called an ambulance. Paramedics arrived promptly and alerted the police.
Chetan Reddy’s body was shifted to the Osmania mortuary for a postmortem and was later handed over to his family on Thursday. His last rites were performed in Rajahmundry on Friday.
Woman kills 2 sons, dies by suicide
Hyderabad:Jeedimetla police have registered a case of murder and suicide after a 30-year-old woman allegedly killed her two sons before taking her own life at her residence in Balaji Layout, Jeedimetla, on Thursday. Investigating officer G. Mallesh said the cases were booked based on a written complaint submitted by her family.
The family arrived from Khammam late on Thursday night. “Her family did not raise any suspicion against anyone,” the inspector said.
Family members, visibly shaken, were unable to speak in detail. In a brief exchange, Tejaswini’s parents said she had been suffering from mental health issues since the onset of the Covid pandemic. “The children would be at school and her husband at work. She was often alone and perhaps that made her feel lonely,” they said, adding that she had spoken to them around 3.30 pm and sounded normal.
Her brother, Lohanth Reddy, told Deccan Chronicle, “This has been shocking for us. We are still trying to come to terms with what has happened.”
Balanagar ACP G. Hanumantha Rao said that Tejaswini had been dealing with some health issues, which, according to her suicide note, were also affecting her two sons. “She mentioned they frequently used eye drops and had breathing difficulties. We are awaiting medical reports to identify the exact condition,” he said.
Boy charged for misbehaving with a nine-year-old girl
Hyderabad:Begumpet police charged a 16-year-old boy for misbehaving with a minor girl. According to the police, the victim is a nine-year-old girl and resides in the Begumpet police station area while the accused is the neighbour.
The boy when noticed the minor girl crying and her parents away, took her close in the pretext of offering her a chocolate. He took the minor to his house and reportedly tied down the girl assaulting her. However, the police claimed that she was not assaulted.
Begumpet inspector B. Prasada Rao denied the claims of the assault and asserted that the accused misbehaved with the girl by touching her inappropriately. The accused is a native of Bihar and cases are booked against him under Section 74 of the BNS read with Section 7 of Pocso Act. The accused is reportedly detained and sent to juvenile home.
Counterfeit engine oil unit busted, 1 held
Hyderabad:South zone task force and Mirchowk police busted a counterfeit engine oil manufacturing unit operating from a godown in Noor Khan Bazaar and arrested one Shaik Qayyum. They seized 710 litres of duplicate engine oil along with packaging material of well-known brands, collectively worth around `3 lakh. Police said Qayyum, formerly a mechanic and driver, had been runing the operation for five months. He allegedly sold the fake oil to local shops at `220 per litre, significantly below the original market price of Rs 425.
Ice cream seller attacked for not buying mobile phone
Hyderabad:Attapur police on Friday arrested three persons identified as Afroz, Salman and Niwas for allegedly assaulting 23-year-old ice-cream seller Anuj after he declined to buy a mobile phone that the trio was offering at a low price.
The incident occurred at around 7 pm on April 14 when Anuj, a UP native residing in Kishannagh, was selling ice cream near Arsh Mahal. He went to purchase a cigarette from a nearby pan shop, where the trio accosted him.
When Niwas offered him the phone, Anuj refused and the trio began threatening him. When he returned to his cart, the trio allegedly attacked him. He ran into a nearby jewellery shop, but the accused followed him there and stabbed him. Anuj called his elder brother, who took him to the police station, where a complaint was lodged.
Man assaulted over family dispute
Hyderabad:Petbasheerabad police registered a case after a 26-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by five individuals at Gundlapochampally over a family dispute. The complainant, Tarun Kumar Old Bowenpally, named the accused as G. Kiran Yadav, Pavan, Laldin, Ayush Yadav and one unidentified person.
According to police, Tarun and his family had been living at his aunt’s residence but were in the process of shifting out following a domestic issue. On April 10, around 8.30 pm, as they were leaving the gated community in Gundlapochampally, his cousin Kiran Yadav allegedly blocked their vehicle and hurled caste-based slurs at him.
Kiran reportedly instigated a group who assaulted Tarun. The accused recorded the incident, circulated the videos and threatened Tarun and his family with dire consequences.
Tarun approached the police after receiving medical treatment. Police booked a case under the BNS and the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and commenced investigations.
