Bangladesh has suspended visa operations at its High Commission in New Delhi and at its mission in Agartala, the capital of Tripura, diplomatic sources confirmed on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, government sources in New Delhi clarified that visa services are currently suspended only at the Indian mission in Chittagong, while they remain operational at other Indian missions in Bangladesh, including in the capital, Dhaka. Visa services at the Chittagong mission were earlier suspended following violent protests by radical groups, during which mobs allegedly hurled stones and other projectiles at the Indian mission.

According to reports, thousands of Indian medical students are enrolled in institutions in Bangladesh. However, many of them have returned to India temporarily amid growing concerns over the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the neighbouring country.
