New Delhi: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the two leaders agreeing to further strengthen strategic ties between India and Israel and reaffirming their shared commitment to combating terrorism. During the conversation, Netanyahu briefed Modi on the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan, while the Prime Minister reiterated India’s consistent support for efforts aimed at achieving a just and durable peace in the region.
In an official statement, New Delhi said the two leaders exchanged New Year greetings and wished peace and prosperity to the people of both countries. They identified shared priorities to deepen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in the year ahead, guided by common democratic values, mutual trust and a forward-looking vision. Both leaders reiterated their zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all its forms and agreed to remain in close touch on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
Prime Minister Modi later posted on X that he was glad to speak with his “friend” Benjamin Netanyahu and convey New Year greetings. He said the discussion focused on ways to further strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership, the regional situation and the shared resolve to fight terrorism with greater determination.
In November last year, Netanyahu had cancelled a proposed visit to India scheduled for December, deciding to undertake it at a later date. While New Delhi had not officially announced the visit, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office had confirmed that a new visit date was being coordinated, stating that Netanyahu has full confidence in India’s security under Prime Minister Modi.
