IndiGo has cancelled flights to and from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah until October 17 amid heightened security concerns and the extended closure of Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport following reported Houthi missile attacks.

IndiGo has cancelled flights to and from Saudi Arabia's Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah until October 17 amid heightened security concerns in the region. In a travel advisory issued on Tuesday, the airline urged passengers to check their flight status on its official website before leaving for the airport.

“Timely updates are being shared on the contact details provided at the time of booking. Our support teams remain available to assist with any queries or concerns,” IndiGo said. “Your safety and well-being remain our top priority. We are in constant coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure safe operations,” it added.

Meanwhile, authorities have extended the closure of Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport until Saturday following continuing attacks by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi rebels, which have disrupted air travel in the Saudi capital.

Operations at the airport, Saudi Arabia's second-busiest after Jeddah, were suspended to “allow for the completion of procedures to ensure the safety and operational readiness of the airport's facilities”, the Saudi civil aviation authority said in a statement.

Late on Monday, the Houthis claimed to have attacked the airport with a ballistic missile, shortly after Saudi Arabia said it had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired by the group towards Riyadh. The developments have prompted airlines to cancel or modify services, disrupting travel to and from the kingdom.

Passengers booked on IndiGo flights to the four affected cities have been advised to monitor updates through the airline's website and the contact details provided at the time of booking before proceeding to the airport.
