KOLKATA: Diamond Harbour Trinamul Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee recorded his voice sample to the criminal investigation department (CID) of the West Bengal police at the Bidhannagar Court on Thursday under tight security following a recent Calcutta High Court order.

He, accompanied by his lawyer, reached the lower court in Salt Lake at around 11.45 am and appeared before a magistrate in connection with a case of his provocative speech against BJP workers during his Assembly Election campaign.

A group of CID officers and forensic science experts were present there. According to sources, Mr Banerjee was asked to read a script twice, slowly and fast, as part of the process which is called spectrographic analysis. He was also instructed to state his identity before starting his reading.

The script contained some parts of his controversial speech at the poll campaign rally. A duration of five minutes of Mr Banerjee’s voice was recorded by voice spectrometer, sources said. The session was video graphed also. The young TMC leader left the court at around 1.30 pm after the process.
