WB Minister Backs Police Excess, Encounter To Tackle Goons
BJP MLA says police action against goons and mafia is necessary to restore peace in Bengal
Kolkata: West Bengal panchayat minister Dilip Ghosh has come out in full support of police excess and encounter to end threat culture in the state. Addressing an event of a BJP office inauguration in his assembly constituency, Kharagpur Sadar in West Midnapore, Mr Ghosh said, “I have asked the cops to act like cops. We will not tolerate police behaving like party cadres or mafia.”
He pointed out, “If there is any complaint on this, do let us know. We will solve that. Thieves and dacoits earlier visited Khargapur from surrounding areas and states and ran their control here. The police didn't do anything even after knowing that. Now the police have started their job. But many are now complaining of police excess.”
The BJP MLA then observed, “You have watched videos of police chasing and catching addicts. No one will be spared. If needed, there will be encounters that happened in Baruipur during the escape of an accused. Let the police do a little bit of excess. Police excess is better than the excess by goons and mafia. Only then peace can prevail. We want to give people peace.”
