Two groups clashed in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh over flag installation and loudspeaker use during Maha Shivratri, leading to violence, injuries, and vehicle arson.

Tensions flared in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district on Wednesday morning as two groups clashed over the installation of flags and the use of a loudspeaker during Maha Shivratri celebrations, police said. The violence resulted in several injuries and the burning of multiple two-wheelers.

Nancy Sahay, Deputy Commissioner of Hazaribagh, confirmed that a scuffle and stone-pelting incident occurred in the Ichak area. “Adequate forces have been deployed, and senior officers are monitoring the situation on-site. As of now, the situation is under control and peaceful,” Sahay told ANI.

Eyewitnesses reported that the dispute began when one group objected to the placement of religious flags and the use of a loudspeaker, leading to heated arguments that soon escalated into violence. Police personnel intervened to disperse the crowd and prevent further damage.

Following the incident, security was tightened in the region, with additional police forces patrolling sensitive areas to prevent further clashes. Authorities have urged residents to maintain peace and refrain from spreading misinformation.

Investigations are underway, and officials are identifying those involved in the violence. Meanwhile, local leaders have called for restraint, emphasizing communal harmony during the festive season.
