Dehradum: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday requested ₹3,500 crore from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fund the Haridwar Mahakumbh in 2027. He also asked the Prime Minister to instruct central departments to expedite clearances for several state development projects.

During a long-awaited meeting in Delhi, Dhami told the Prime Minister that his government has already begun preparations for the 2027 Mahakumbh in Haridwar. He said work must include bridge repairs, expanded parking, enhanced electricity and drinking-water systems, large-scale toilet facilities, improved transportation services, and dedicated pedestrian pathways for devotees.
Dhami further sought early approval of a pending ₹1,015-crore Detailed Project Report under the RDSS scheme for undergrounding HT and LT power lines and automating the power system in Rishikesh and Haridwar. He also urged Modi to help restore the Chaurasi Kutiya heritage site, once frequented by the Beatles, to its original form by fast-tracking National Wildlife Board approval of the restoration proposal.
Finally, the Chief Minister requested approval for five hydropower projects totaling 596 MW, based on recommendations from the Cabinet Secretary’s committee. In response, Prime Minister Modi assured him of full support from the central government for Uttarakhand’s development.
