UP Youth Held In Davangere Over Links with Terror Groups

Upon verification of his mobile phone, police came across that the suspect was in touch with foreign entities with respect to terror activities via social media platforms.

Bengaluru: A 20-year-old person and a native Uttar Pradesh was arrested by Harihara Rural police of Davangere district based on credible information that he was in contact with terror organisations through handlers via social media platforms.

Davangere Superintendent of Police H.T. Shekar on Wednesday said the suspect came to Harihara from his native place and worked at a private factory as a painter. He stayed at a rented house and was staying there for 15 days.

Police gathered information on the suspect through credible sources and secured him. Upon verification of his mobile phone, police came across that the suspect was in touch with foreign entities with respect to terror activities via social media platforms.

However, police are yet to ascertain his direct association with any of the terror groups but have established that the arrested person was in touch with terror handlers through social media platforms. A case has been registered against the arrested person and police will verify his mobile phone to gather more details on his associations that is to establish whether more persons are involved in the case among other details.
