VISHAKAPATNAM: Three workers died in a quarry blast near Deenabandupuram village of Srikakulam district on Friday night. Tekkali deputy collector Krishna Murthy Madaka said a probe has been initiated to ascertain if there were irregularities in the operation.
The deceased are Pungavenu Arugam (45), a native of Tamil Nadu, and two workers from Polavaram in Tekkali -- Tirlangi Ramarao (40) and Badabandu Appanna (35).
"Preliminary investigation suggests that the deaths occurred due to a rock-blasting incident at the quarry site," said Meliyaputti sub-inspector Ramesh.
