Suspense Over Next MP BJP President Continues
The process of election in the 62 organizational districts in the state was completed in February this year.
Bhopal: With the process of organizational polls at the district level having completed two months back, the Madhya Pradesh unit of BJP still awaited its next president.
The process of election in the 62 organizational districts in the state was completed in February this year. But the state party still awaited the initiation of the process for the election of its next president by the Central leadership.
“The process to elect the chiefs of all the 62 organizational districts was completed in February this year. The Central party leadership will announce the poll schedule for the election of the next president of the state party”, state BJP secretary Rajneesh Agrawal told this newspaper on Thursday.
Although the delay in holding the election to choose the next president of the state party has hardly affected the functioning of the organization, aspirants for the post as well as the cadres of the party here are waiting with their fingers crossed for the past two months to know who will be the next chief of the state party.
“It has been a long wait for us. The Central leadership should end the suspense by initiating the process for the polls to elect the next president of the state party. The delay hardly serves any purpose”, a senior party functionary told this newspaper here, unwilling to be quoted.
The incumbent in the post, Vishnu Dutt Sharma, has been in the office for the past five years.
Suspense prevails in the party as to if Mr. Sharma will be retained in the post in the polls or he will be replaced by another leader.
Mr. Sharma along with at least half-a-dozen senior leaders of the party in the state has been lobbying with the Central BJP leadership for the post for the past couple of months.
The key leaders who are in the race for the post are sitting MLA Hemant Khandelwal, who has a strong RSS background, former ministers Narottam Mishra and Aurobind Bhadoria, besides Mr. Sharma.
Chief minister Mohan Yadav has several times in the past held discussions with the Central party leaders on the issue, sources said.
