NEW DELHI:  The Election Commission of India on Sunday said the enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has started in Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim and Manipur.

The poll body had launched Phase 3 of the SIR in 16 states and three Union Territories from May 14 in a staggered manner. During the enumeration phase, which began on Saturday, Booth Level Officers will conduct house-to-house visits to distribute, collect and verify enumeration forms. Electors can submit completed forms through BLOs or online. Those whose forms are received by Electoral Registration Officers on or before June 28 will be included in the draft electoral rolls.

Electors who miss the deadline can apply for registration as new voters using Form 6 along with the prescribed declaration during the claims and objections period. The four states together account for over 3.67 crore electors. Odisha has more than 3.34 crore voters, followed by Mizoram with 8.75 lakh, Sikkim with 4.71 lakh and Manipur with 20.92 lakh electors.

The Commission urged eligible voters to participate in the revision process and cooperate with officials to ensure accurate electoral rolls. It said the exercise aims to include all eligible citizens while preventing ineligible entries, adding that any Indian citizen aged 18 years or above on the qualifying date and not disqualified under law is entitled to be registered as an elector.
