Schoolboy Escapes Unhurt After Arrow Fired At Him Pierces Schoolbag In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A schoolboy in Odisha’s Sambalpur district had a narrow escape on Monday after an arrow allegedly fired at him pierced his schoolbag while he was on his way to school.

The incident occurred near Keutberni Upper Primary School in Keutberni village under Naktideul police station limits in the Redhakhol subdivision.

According to police and local reports, Amulya Dhal was accompanying his son, Soumyaranjan Dhal, to school when an arrow was allegedly shot at them from behind. The arrow reportedly hit the boy’s schoolbag, which he was carrying on his back, pierced through it and narrowly missed him.

The child escaped unhurt.

A villager, identified as Mochi Sahu, has been brought to the Naktideul police station for questioning in connection with the incident. Police were investigating the circumstances that led to the alleged attack.

Preliminary reports suggest that the incident may have been linked to a previous enmity between the families.

“I was taking my son to school when Mochi Sahu allegedly attacked us. We have had a previous dispute, and he had earlier threatened to kill my son. I had lodged an FIR, but was told that action could be taken only if any harmful incident occurred,” Amulya Dhal alleged.

Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and began an inquiry.

The exact motive behind the alleged attack is yet to be established. Investigators are questioning the suspect and examining whether the incident was the result of a personal dispute or any other provocation.
