Berhampore: Several Trinamul Congress MLAs, belonging to the rebel and loyal camps, and two of their dissident party MPs attended West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari's administrative review meeting in Malda on Friday amid a war among themselves for supremacy within.

They represent various seats in four districts: Malda, Murshidabad, North Dinajpur and South Dinajpur. Among them, Babar Ali (Jalangi), Abdul Rahim Bakshi (Malatipur), Mosarraf Hossain (Itahar) and Biplab Mitra (Harirampur) are known as loyal TMC MLAs.

Along with them present at the meeting were rebel TMC MLAs— Akhtaruzzaman (Raghunathgunj), Sabina Yasmin (Sujapur), Byron Biswas (Sagardighi) and Samar Mukherjee (Ratua) — and two dissident MPs: Abu Taher Khan (Murshidabad) and MP Khalilur Rahaman (Jangipur).

While, Akhtaruzzaman said, “We have no problem with Mamata Banerjee. Leader of the opposition Ritabrata Banerjee directed us to attend the meeting for development work,” Ms Yasmin pointed out, “The CM visited Malda for the first time. So we welcomed him for development here.”

Mr Biswas however said, “Mr Adhikari spoke to me personally and treated me as ruling MLA and younger brother. He also gave me an appointment on June 18 to discuss developmental projects in my constituency. I think he will change the picture of the state soon. Earlier, when Ms Banerjee was the CM, she neither allowed me to talk nor entertained any proposal.”

On the other hand, Mr Khan said, “We still respect and love Didi. We complained to her against her MP nephew Abhishek Banerjee and I-PAC for their high handedness and also requested her to exclude them but she remains adamant. It is a bitter reality that BJP, led by Mr Adhikari, won the Assembly Election. They need some time to rule. I came here because the CM personally invited me to work together.”
