R&AW Chief Jain Takes Charge As Secretary (Security) Too

NEW DELHI: Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) Chief Parag Jain was on Wednesday assigned additional charge of secretary (security) in the Cabinet Secretariat.
An Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1989 batch from the Punjab cadre, Jain took charge of India’s external intelligence agency on July 1 for a two-year tenure.
“The Competent Authority has approved the assignment of additional charge of the post of Secretary (Security), Cabinet Secretariat, to Shri Parag Jain, IPS (PB:89), Secretary, Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW), under the Cabinet Secretariat, with immediate effect and till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” stated an order issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
Jain, known for his strategic acumen, is regarded as one of the key architects of ‘Operation Sindoor’, under which the Indian Armed Forces carried out targeted attacks on terror camps and military installations in Pakistan.
Before his appointment as R&AW chief, Jain headed the agency’s Aviation Research Centre (ARC), which is responsible for aerial surveillance and reconnaissance operations.
