Raut Asks Pawar To Take Lead In Demanding Resignations of PM, HM
Sanjay Raut slams Centre over Pahalgam attack, urges Sharad Pawar to seek Amit Shah’s resignation over security lapse.
Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday reiterated his allegations that security failure led to Pahalgam terror attack and urged NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar to take a stand against the Centre. He insisted that Mr. Pawar should demand resignation of Union home minister Amit Shah instead of supporting the government.
Recently, Mr. Pawar had criticised opposition leaders who took anti-government stand immediately after the ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan-based terrorist groups. The veteran politician had said local level politics should not be brought in matters of international importance and national security.
“Why is Mr. Pawar criticising us? He should set an example by demanding resignation of Mr. Shah for security failure in Pahalgam attack and resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for compromising nation’s sovereignty by accepting intervention of US president Donald Trump in the action against Pakistan,” Mr Raut said.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, who had earlier expressed doubts over claims that terrorists in Pahalgam killed 26 tourists after confirming they were Hindus, alleged that the all-party delegations is the Centre’s tactics to divert attention and save itself from answering questions on security lapses. He claimed that the all-party delegation to 33 nations across the world will not yield anything substantial.
Questioning the all-party delegations’ visit to African and European countries, Mr. Raut asked what purpose they would serve in addressing disputes between India and Pakistan. “The delegation should go to neighbouring nations like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and even China, who hold sway in the region and whose opinions will matter in maintaining peace in the sub-continent,” he said.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) is also upset with the government for nominating party’s Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi without consulting the leadership. Mr. Raut said that the government should have taken party chiefs into confidence before selecting the members of the delegations. “The government should have called the party chief before selecting names for the delegation so that the party could select a proper person for it. TMC chief and Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee has changed her party’s representative,” he said.
